About the position
At Intercel, we know everything there is to know about batteries and energy storage. With more than 35 years of experience, we have become the specialist in this industry. With three different business units, we market our cleantech product in different ways.
As an Account Manager at Intercel you will specify in one of the business units. Which one fits best, we will discuss together during your application process. For all business units, you will deliver the most suitable batteries to our customers. What makes this so fun and challenging? We work with companies in many different sectors. There is a lot of variety and we are always growing and innovating. At Intercel, you are the driving force behind our customer relationships and partnerships.
- Account Manager Batteries: In this role you will be working for the trading arm of Intercel, we supply batteries and accessories in both the Netherlands and Europe. In the role you will be a specialist and advisor to our customers and help them grow in their move towards a greener business.
- Account Manager Electrification: This division designs and manufactures custom batteries for electrifying diesel machinery. The sales process requires technical insight focused on batteries and the energy transition. Our battery is part of the entire electrification of the machine, you understand the importance of different steakholders in this.
- Account Manager ESS: The ‘Energy Storage Systems’ (ESS) business unit’s mission is to solve the problems of grid congestion: a major challenge resulting from the energy transition. With energy storage systems, we ensure that companies continue to have sufficient (sustainable) power. In this role, you will take care of customers and be up to date with the latest laws & regulations.
An account manager at Intercel is self-directed and proactive. You have experience in a commercial sales role and are ready for the next step in your career. In this you already take knowledge of battery technology. All business units work well together and you will (depending on which division you will work for) also have a lot of collaboration with colleagues from purchasing, engineering, inside sales and logistics. Because of this, you will occasionally work at our office in Haarlem, but most of your time will be spent with customers. You are an indispensable link between our customers and partners.
Your duties include:
- You identify and approach potential customers, in which industry this is highly dependent on which business unit you will be working for;
- In addition to tools and marketing, you will also take care of generating leads yourself from your own network, online research, LinkedIn, trade shows and events;
- You enjoy being on the road presenting our solutions to (potential) customers;
- While demonstrating the benefits and functionalities of our products, you are well able to make consultative sales;
- You draw up quotations yourself and ensure proper follow-up. You are able to negotiate terms and prices and can draft and conclude sales contracts;
- You can properly differentiate what is required by customer segment and type of person to take the next step in the sales process;
- You will ensure an accurate way of working to document customer data and interactions in the available systems. This so that you can track sales activities and results and report this during progress meetings if necessary.
You will increase Intercel’s market share, recognize opportunities and respond with an appropriate solution. You will gradually acquire knowledge of our products and you can always ask colleagues for this. More important is your commercial drive and responding to the needs of our customers.

Who are you?
- You have hbo working and thinking level;
- You have at least 5 years of experience in a commercial (field sales) position in an (electro)technical company, you have great affinity with the energy transition;
- You are in possession of driver’s license B;
- You work independently; we don’t need to teach you the account management profession;
- You enjoy working at our Haarlem office when you are not visiting a client;
- Entrepreneurship and ownership characterize your actions. You have the drive to always go that one step extra and be on the ball short;
- You have an excellent command of both the Dutch and English languages.
